As a Fan.... Episode #24: International Women’s Day Celebration, She Believes Cup, Liverpool loss, and more

The guys start with celebrations of Women’s International Day, and in this country the US Women’s National Team is hosting their annual “SheBelieves” cup. This year US will face returning (and current champion) England, Japan, and debutant Spain. They talk about the Bayern Munich fans causing a game to be stopped because of protests against the Hoffenheim owner. To which the players from both teams decided to stop playing and just play keep up amongst all the players on the pitch….. given that the score at that time was a 6-0 for Bayern. We read news about USMNT keeper, Zack Steffen, playing for NYC FC (sibling team of Manchester City in EPL) is not confirmed to be Guardiola’s second keeper as Bravo is set to depart over the summer. Finally, most Cup competitions around the world are reaching their last 8, 4, or 2 teams with games set for late March early April to figure out the last 2 teams going to the final that would be in May. Dan and Jaime talked about the most notable transfers for the second week of MLS in the transfer talk. Week in review stated with the return leg of the game between LAFC and Leon for the 3-0 score that gave the MLS team the ticket to the semifinal, and to face one of Mexico’s big team… Cruz Azul and their curse. We also talked about Joseph Martinez injury that will end his 2020 season, or most of it, and the chances Atlanta now has looking at the 2020 season. We also talked about El Clasico and the poor performance from Barcelona after having a good first half, but then something happened and either Barcelona couldn’t find their rhythm or Real Madrid found the way to hurt them; and so they did by beating their eternal rivals at the Bernabeu 2-0. We briefly talked about the Carabao Cup final that gave Manchester City their first silverware of the year by beating Aston Villa 2-1. We also discussed the Everton vs. Manchester United VAR decision at the end of the game that removed a goal at the 90+ minutes to give the game a 1-1 draw. Also we have no more undefeated teams in European league competitions as Liverpool lost against Watford, making Dan a very happy fan; and Liverpool also got eliminated from the FA Cup at the hands of Chelsea. Last, but not least, was the games of week 1 in MLS. In which two new expansion teams made their debut: Nashville vs. Atlanta, and Inter Miami vs. LAFC. We finish the episode with our MUST/MISS section where we suggest games that our listeners should follow during this international break... or not follow.
